Have you got it yet?

Yes. The 2009 Ikea catalogue.

What is it about this catalogue that makes it such an 'event' to look forward to? A friend living in an Ikea-less country recently told me that he had to fork out good money for a copy. And that I should be thankful that I get mine free. Yes, I am.

First cut. The staples are pretty much intact. Good to see them expanding the Besta/Inreda bookcase/media storage range. I have seen some good combos come out of it. And since I have an Expedit bookcase, I'm very happy to see more toys for it. Maybe I can finally get rid of the less than pretty Lekman plastic boxes. Also, the Trollsta sideboard is quite a looker but for some reason, I keep imagining it should be in red.

Now to you. Browse the online catalogue. Come back and share what you like or hate about the Ikea 2009 range.

ikea catalogue 2008 is out!

every new ikea catalogue is a bit of an event for me. i can't wait to get my hands on it, leaf through it - first a quick overview, then a slow study of new items, new ideas and creative uses. also, very importantly, to see if they've dropped the prices of old items further, which is always a good thing.

well, it is the time of the year again and i've just spent the last 2 hours flipping through the online catalogue. i'm still not done with the 370 pages!

at first glance, some of the the stuff looks seriously good. i'm eyeing the besta tv units and i am in love with the red linnarp glass cabinets you see on the cover.

i hope they look as good in person. guess i'll be checking them out at ikea this weekend.

christmas comes really early at ikea

ahh ... holly always gets the worm. seeing her post on the ikea '06 holiday range, i momentarily forgot the soaring temperatures outside. so, i dug around the ikea site and found more pictures. what catches my fancy are the isig items - particularly the lantern and tea light holders. love the lacey patterns which are the rage now. at under $12 for the lantern and $1 for the tealight holders, it's a steal. keeping my fingers crossed that they look as good in person.

hope you enjoyed the early holiday feast for the eyes.

more pixs on 2007 range

after my previous post on ikea's new range, holly of decor8 tipped me on more pixs of the ikea newbies. and what a droolfest it turns out to be. ikea seems to be getting it right this season, after what i personally thought was a rather lacklustre 2006. read more here.

commitment-phobic me loves this modular tylosand sofa. and the hot, hot colour!

more to hack in 2007

caught a sneak peek of ikea's 2007 range in design*sponge. lovely lovely. and that means we hackers can look forward to more hacking options.

frosting my billy cabinet doors was one of the things i've always had in mind to hack. well, guess ikea beat me to that. i can't wait. read more here.
