Coat hanger shelf

Materials: EKBY BJÄRNUM brackets (28 cm), EKBY TONY shelf, ATTEST handle (hole spacing 224 mm), 2 new screws - must be a bit longer than the ones included with the handle

Description: This one is pretty easy. The hacky part is using a door handle as the coat hanger rack.

Buy two new screws from your local hardware store (bring the screws included with the handle so you know what to look for). The new screws must be a little bit longer, try measuring the included screws up against the shelfs thickness.

Cut the shelf to the desired length.

Use a tape measure find the center of the shelf and mark two spots (224 mm apart) where you should drill. Ikea also sells templates to help you mark the two spots with the correct distance, if you are at not completely comfortable with this part.

Double check your measurements, you only get one chance so get it right.

Drill!

Simply follow the included instructions to mount one of the door handles on the shelf, like you would on a wardrobe door.

Suspension Bridge Shelf

Materials: MARKOR series home entertainment combo plus EKBY BJÄRNUM wall shelf bracket; Extra shelves from the "as is" section; castors on the coffee table so the footstool can live underneath

Description: Mounting the bridge shelf to the wall above the TV was proving more difficult than we thought... We came up with an elegant solution without having to drill holes in the wall! Using the EKBY wall shelf brackets mounted to the sides of the MARKOR bookcases as the "towers" the bridge shelf just sits on top. Simple!

We also added extra shelves to the bookcases from the "As Is" section to hold more DVD's and castors to the MARKOR Coffee Table so the KARLANDA footstool can live underneath.

Undersink Rubbish bin-like hanger thingy

Materials: EKBY BJÄRNUM shelf brackets, VÄRDE knobs x4

Description: This is a pretty simple hack that I did so I could hang shopping bags to use for rubbish under my kitchen sink. The brackets were mounted onto the inside of the cabinet door upside down. This is important because there are two threaded holes on each bracket that are designed to hold the shelf tight. These holes are used for the four knobs that stick out of the top and hold the bag in place. When the knobs are in place (they should fit the threads) place a shopping bag on it and voilà! a place for your rubbish without taking up space or getting lost inside the cabinet.

(As you can see from the extra holes in the cabinet door, I had to experiment to get the distance correct.) Of course on the opposite cabinet door I have the RATIONELL VARIERA Plastic bag dispenser. So easy.

Wall mount computer workstation, pc desk

Materials: Ikea: VIKA AMON tabletop (150 x 75cm), EKBY BJÃRNUM bracket, EKBY JÃRPEN shelf (119 x 28cm), MALM nightstand (white), 2 x DIODER multicolor LED-strips. Non-Ikea: HP Touchsmart600 (computer), Vogel's Wallmount, 2 x Aluminium decorative strips (100cm), One ordinary shelf bracket, 2 hinges, Enermax Crystal aluminium keyboard

Description: First I made a frame with 4 slats on the back of the tabletop to move it about an inch from the wall. Then I made a hole in the tabletop for the flatscreen-wallmount. (The tabletop isn't strong enough to hold the screen, so I put the Vogel's wallmount straight on the concrete wall.) After that I put the DIODER LED-strips on the frame behind the tabletop and hung the tabletop on the wall with wooden slats, a bit like this.

I took the EKBY JÃRPEN shelf and sawed a piece out of it to fit over the tabletop. Then I made a little cupboard for the cables from an old MALM nightstand and screwed it to the EKBY shelf. I made a door in the cupboard with 2 hinges and a little shelf inside.

Then I put the shelf on the wall with one EKBY BJARNUM bracket and one ordinary bracket inside the cupboard.

And as a finishing touch I put the aluminium decorative strips between the EKBY shelf and the tabletop.

I hope you'll like the result!
